Gladys (Jett) Willis age 87 of Providence, RI gained her wings and Gladys (Jett) Willis age 87 of Providence, RI gained her wings and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 30, 2020 at Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI. She was born in Providence, RI on December 12, 1932 to the late Robert and Gladys Jett. She is proceeded by her late husband, Lee Floyde Willis. She is survived by 8 children; Gregory, Robert, Claude, Shelia, Leah Jett of (RI), Tyrone Sutton (RI), Dolores Nugent (MA), Doreen Dorsey, Sidney Jett (MD). She is survived by one other brother Robert Jett (NC) and by the late Marion, Sarah and Danny Jett. She leaves a host of grands, great grands, and great-great grandchildren.
Gladys was a very loving mother who helped whoever she could. She was an active volunteer at the local Providence food bank. She also served as the mother of the Providence Assembly of God church where she assisted with prepping and distributing food for the homeless.
Gladys was a great dancer and a sister of the St. Martin De Porres Swingers dance group where she performed at the mall and other public places as often as she could. She also loved knitting, crocheting and creating everything from Christmas ornaments to dolls and vases for plants, all while singing some of her favorite songs like "In The Living Room".
Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services on Thursday, November 5th at 9:00am at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Private burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Due to COVID-19, all are required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Live streaming will be available.
